Project Manager – 6 Month contract
Role Purpose
The Project Manager is accountable for the end-to-end delivery of projects and
strategic initiatives, ensuring that agreed business outcomes are achieved within
defined scope, time, cost, quality, risk, and governance parameters. The role serves
as the primary point of coordination and accountability between business,
technology, risk, compliance, operations, and third-party stakeholders, ensuring
alignment to FirstRand governance frameworks, delivery standards, and strategic
objectives.
Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Planning
• Develop and maintain project charters, project plans, schedules, roadmaps,
and delivery milestones.
• Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, assumptions, dependencies,
and success measures.
• Drive delivery activities across the project lifecycle from initiation through to
closure.
• Manage project priorities and ensure delivery remains aligned to business
objectives.
• Coordinate project implementation, deployment, and transition into business-
as-usual operations.
Governance & Compliance
• Ensure adherence to the Business Delivery Life Cycle (BDLC), SDLC,
governance frameworks, and FirstRand minimum standards.
• Facilitate project governance forums including Steering Committees, Working
Groups, and Exco reporting.
• Ensure required artefacts, approvals, risk assessments, privacy assessments,
and compliance reviews are completed and maintained.
• Maintain project documentation and audit evidence throughout the project
lifecycle.
• Manage project decisions, dispensations, and governance exceptions where
applicable.
Stakeholder Management
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with business owners, sponsors,
technology teams, vendors, and external partners.
• Facilitate workshops, project meetings, decision forums, and stakeholder
engagement activities.
• Manage communication across all impacted parties and ensure timely
escalation of risks and issues.
• Promote alignment between business requirements and technical delivery
teams.
Financial & Resource Management
• Support project budgeting, cost forecasting, and financial tracking.
• Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets.
• Coordinate resource planning and allocation across business and technology
teams.
• Identify capacity constraints and escalate resource risks where required.
Risk, Issue & Dependency Management
• Proactively identify, assess, and manage project risks, issues, assumptions,
and dependencies.
• Maintain RAID logs and ensure mitigation plans are developed and tracked.
• Escalate material risks and delivery concerns through appropriate governance
forums.
• Drive resolution of blockers impacting project delivery.
Reporting & Controls
• Produce accurate and timely project status reports, dashboards, financial
updates, and executive reporting.
• Monitor progress against agreed milestones, schedules, and deliverables.
• Track project health and communicate performance against agreed metrics.
• Provide visibility of project status, risks, decisions, and outcomes to
stakeholders.
Change & Benefits Realization
• Support organizational change management and business readiness
activities.
• Ensure operational, process, training, and communication requirements are
addressed.
